In 2026, we were once again delighted to achieve success at the Danish National Show in Herning. We presented two heifers of exceptional quality, both of which caught the discerning eye of Judge John Moore. Mr Moore, of Omorga Simmentals in the United Kingdom, is a highly respected judge with an excellent reputation in the breed. “Long as a train” he stated about one of them.

Sneumgaard Avec PP has been sold to Rudolf Grob in Hesse, Germany. This means that Sneumgaard Avec PP will be used for breeding in a highly regarded herd that already features Sneumgaard genetics! Rudolf Grob has, in fact, two cows in his herd with our genetics.  Those he purchased from Bjørn Edelmann – who previously bought two bulls from us: one is Sneumgaard Nobel PP and the other is Sneumgaard Homér PP. In the photo below, you can see one of Rudolf’s cows purchased from Bjørn Edelmann. She has Nobel PP as her sire and Homér PP as her maternal grandsire. Bjørn Edelmann accompanied Rudolf Grob up here to collect the bull and mentioned that he has had great success with both bulls purchased here, expressing great satisfaction with their offspring’s excellent functional traits and superb temperament. On Bjørn’s recommendation, Rudolf bought Avec, even though he had only seen it online. But when he saw him in real life, he said: “His better than I thought!”

When the cow purchased from Edelmann (in the picture just below) get a calf by Avec, that calf’s pedigree will be packed with fine Sneumgård bulls – most of them shown at National Show in Denmark.

A cow with excellent conformation, musculature and exceptionally fine udders. This is the genetics of the future, and Rudolf’s son Andreas, in particular, stands to benefit from it in the years to come. He now owns 50% of the farm and will eventually own the whole thing. 

At a time when Danish bulls are not very visible across Europe, it gives us particular pleasure to see that some of the bulls we have sold privately are performing well in top-class herds abroad.

One of our key breeding principles is to keep calf birth weights below 45 kilograms for heifers and 55 kilograms for bulls, prioritising easy calving. The 2025 calving season has ended, and we are pleased to report that we have successfully maintained this standard once again this year.

For almost forty years, our herd management has prioritized keeping birth weights low, which has helped reduce costs, labor, and stress. We’ve also maintained a closed breeding program for more than 25 years, preventing the introduction of animals with high birth weights into our genetics. Bulls with low birth indices are selected for insemination, so low birth weight traits have been established over multiple generations. Despite this focus, our animals still reach final weights that are on par with others, proving that lower birth weights do not necessarily mean reduced final weights.

This principle likewise extends to temperament, where we have consistently adhered to a rigorous selection standard. If an animal shows any sign of unacceptable temperament, it is slaughtered and excluded from both our breeding programs and those of others. These two factors have made our jobs as breeders and part-time farmers much easier.
