Progeny after Kumshot P Av Hovde born in our herd.
(Pedigree/progeny at the bottom of the page) Kumshot P av Hovde is a Norwegian insemination bull (AI-bull), who we have used at Sneumgaard from 2018. He got the maximum grade 9 in almost ALL categories when judged at linear scoring on the individual test and is therefore also rated with the maximum grade 9 for the aggregated score! A real conformation bull!
He posses quite large frames, well put together, with good limbs and a good depth in the back muscle. At the test station Staur – where the bulls are not fed ad libitum, but after allotment – he had an increase of 1877 grams per. day – birth weight 37 kilos, 200 days weight of 393 kg and a one-year weight of 704 kilos, which with the feeding methods at Staur is extremely much! During the test, he also showed very good properties in terms of roughage intake.
Kumshot’s ratings on musculature and size makes him one of the highest rated Simmental bulls in Norway ever! Historically, only 3 insemination bulls have achieved the top grade 9 for aggregated score. Kumshot’s sire is the Swedish bull Pepper P av Katsløsa – a bull with strong maternal characteristics, easy calvings and an excellent conformation, with which he went to the top with in the Swedish selection, with 9 for the aggregated linear score!
The maternal grandsire of Kumshot is the Canadian Champs Bravo U60. Bravo was a very good bull in terms of maternal characteristics and was in Canada among the 1% best simmental bulls on milk, which is important for the calves’ growth.
The first Norwegian young bulls by Kumshot were slaughtered at the turn of the year 2018/19 with promising results on slaughter weight and classification. Kumshot has a good birth index (on its own calves) in Norway and can thus be used on heifers. The first heifer of Kumshot in our herd, “Pallas P”, achieved 20 months old 89 for aggregated linear score (category Excellent). We used him in our flush-program in Australia.
